Artist Sandis Aispurs’ exhibition utt. comprised of sculptures of the Twelve Apostles in the garden of Riga Cathedral is intended for the 21st century viewer. Serving as the prototypes for the contemporary exhibition figures are a number of the artists’ friends. If faith is capable of being continually reborn and passing from person to person and from generation to generation, then the artist is expressing not only this, but also the present day during which this is manifested in specific people. Of course, he is also expressing himself as a contemporary person, articulating his view, his passions and his train of thought. One of the morphological allusions in this work is to the amount of time that is symbolically overcome through eternal repetition and simultaneously postmodern situationalism.
